Hey everyone, I am Ayesha. Today I am here to help you to
stay motivated in order to achieve your fitness goals. Well yeah I know when we
start with the fitness programs we are all enthusiastic and excited about it…but
alas! The excitement drains away soon and we start neglecting our health. But as
they say nothing comes easy. Hard work is key to success.
So here I am with the few tips to keep you motivated so that
you achieve your desired fitness goals.
Remind yourself of your original
motivation to Lose Weight
Start by reminding
yourself what set you off on the road to wanting to lose weight in the first
place, was it:
·
seeing a ‘fat’ photo of yourself?
·
the scales reaching a
certain point?
·
not being able to find
any clothes to fit you?
·
realising that even the
smallest tasks were making you feel out of breath?
Close your eyes and go
back to the moment when you decided once and for all to lose weight. If you
still have that photo, take another look and remind yourself what you didn’t
like about it.
Visualise the new slim you
If things get tough,
spend some time visualising your new life as a slimmer, fitter and healthier you.
·
how does it feel?
·
how much more confident
are you?
·
how do you look?
·
how do you move?
·
how much more energetic
do you feel?
·
what are you doing in
your new life?
·
what changes have you
made?
Hold onto this image of
the new you and take time to revisit it whenever you feel like giving up.
Reflect
on your successes
Start by
reminding yourself how much better
and healthier you already feel. Then look at some old pictures of yourself when
you were bigger and reflect on the differences in your appearance now. Doesn’t
it feel great to have more prominent cheekbones, slimmer arms or a trimmer
waist?
Put on an
old item of clothing that used to be tight – there’s no better feeling than
trying on a pair of trousers that you couldn’t get past your hips and can now
do up at the waist! Checking out your overall weight and inch loss to date can
also really help to give you a boost.
Get
to grips with a weight loss plateau
Jumping
on the scales after a hard week of dieting only to discover you haven’t lost as
much as a pound can be seriously disappointing and demotivating. But sadly it’s
very common.
Research suggests that after four to five weeks of steady weight
loss, some people even increase in weight by about a pound. Why this happens
isn’t clear but it’s probably the result of our metabolism adjusting and seems to be the
body’s way of ‘catching up’ with its sudden change in size.
Many slimmers see this plateau as a sign that their diet isn’t working, lose
their motivation to lose weight and so give up and quickly pile the weight back
on.
Understanding
that your weight may stabilize for a few weeks – and looking at this as your
body sending you a positive message that it’s been through some pretty big
changes and is preparing for more – really can help to keep you positive and
focused during this difficult time and regain your weight loss motivation.
Remember
it’s All About You
Remind
yourself who you are losing weight for. The key to staying motivated is wanting
to do it for YOU. If
you’re trying to lose weight as a result of pressure from family, friends or
your GP, you’ll constantly struggle! People who successfully lose weight – and
keep it off – do it for themselves.
So friends make sure this fitness journey is yours and YOU are
not a quitter. XD :)
