AUSSIES START WITH A WIN
What a win for Australia! They came here on the back of winning the Ashes 5-0 and boy how well have they continued to shine. Johnson led them again with the ball and some really good batting from their batsmen was just what they needed. They now take a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.Johnson yet again bowled with venom picking up his 12th Test five-wicket haul ending with career best figures of 12/127. They bowled out the home side for just 200 as de Villiers was again the lone man standing for them. Siddle and Harris chipped in with two wickets each to ensure that they won the Test with a day to spare.
Australia then, in their reply built on their lead of 191 runs with a brilliant ton from Warner. Doolan too played well for his 89 before both of them were dismissed late on day 3. Clarke and Marsh added a few quick runs but Clarke declared as soon as Marsh got out earlier today setting a target of 482 runs for the home side.
After losing the toss, Australia were not off to the best of starts, losing their top order for just 98 runs. But Marsh and Smith scoring tons, played brilliantly to bring them back in the game with a huge stand. Steyn was the best bowler for the home side picking up four wickets. Johnson then lead Australia with the ball picking up 7 wickets as the Australians bundled out the hosts for a mere 206. de Villiers played really well but was unlucky to miss out on his ton as he got out on 91.
Mitchell Johnson is adjudged the Man of the Match for his heroic bowling performance. Starts off saying that the game was set up by their batsmen. They continued to bowl well as a team. Confesses that he was nervous but pumped up coming in to face the number one team. Continues he had never played here, so he was excited. Says he knows his role, is that of an intimidator. Adds that the bowling does take a toll on his body after 30. Continues stating, anytime you take wickets against top players at their home is always special. Adds it's a long series and hopes he continues his good form in the next two Tests.
So Australia now lead the series 1-0 and will look to seal it in the next Test. But will South Africa allow them to do so? Or will Johnson inspire his team to yet another series win? LETS SEE WAIT SECOND TEST
