ARVIND KEJRIWAL LIKES TO KNOW TRUTH BEHIND GAS PRICING
" NOTHING IS DONE WITHOUT EXPERT ADVICE" SAYS KEJRIWAL
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said criminal cases will be filed against billionaire Mukesh Ambani, Union Oil Minister Veerappa Moily and other policy-makers for colluding to inflate the prices of gas. Reliance Industries Limited, owned by Mr Ambani, sells gas to state-owned power producers and fertilizer plants. Mr Kejriwal said it has been allowed windfall and illegitimate gains, and that he was acting on the basis of four complaints.
Reliance has not commented so far on the charges. Reacting to Mr Kejriwal's charges, Oil Minister Veerappa Moily said, "Nothing is done without expert advice. If he can give (us) some money, we'll be happy to reduce prices."
Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said that his party is not against any kind of inquiry, but the probe shouldn't be political. "Any Congress minister can be probed... guilty should be punished," he said.
Kejriwal said he has asked the his government's anti-corruption bureau to lodge an FIR against former oil minister Murli Deora, Mukesh Ambani, oil minister Veerappa Moily and former director general hydrocarbons VK Sibal.
He also said that he will write to the Prime Minister as well as the oil minister regarding the issue.
The AAP leader also accused the Congress and opposition parties maintaining a silence on the issue and taking bribe ahead of the Delhi elections.
He alleged that RIL did not produce adequate gas from eastern offshore KG basin block so as to put pressure on the Government to hike the price.
Reliance did not offer any immediate comments on the issue..
